Do you only cater for weddings?
Whilst many of our catering engagements are for weddings we have a vast amount of experience in all areas and types of functional catering. We cater a variety of events including Christmas parties, birthday celebrations, award ceremonies, charity events, festivals, exhibitions and sports events.
There’s no kitchen where my event is being held, can you still provide catering?
In addition to the kitchens at our units in Aberdare we have a range of mobile kitchen equipment and tents which can be used to create a temporary kitchen on-site. We have catered events in a variety of places from hotels to private homes, and country parks to car parks. Our team is just as at home working in a field as they are in a kitchen!
We have the equipment and experience to handle the challenges of catering events in a wide range of locations. When enquiring about your event please let us know where the event is being held and what facilities are present. We’ll arrange a site visit to ensure the practicality of your location and address any logistical implications and possible issues.
What's included in our menu cost?
Our menus are fully inclusive of cutlery, crockery, service staff and a floor manager. They also include any kitchen equipment we require (ovens, fridges etc.) and its installation. Very occasionally we have to charge a fee to ‘get in’, but this is only in extreme cases where equipment must be carried.
Many of our menu packages include white or ivory linen tablecloths along with napkins.
We also have a range of other items available that you are welcome to use. Such items include cake-stands and tables, table-stands (for table name cards), tall candelabra centrepieces, mirror disks, and easels. Please contact the office to add any of these to your event booking.
How long will you hold my date for?
Whilst we are able to cater multiple events in a day some dates – especially during the summer months – are very popular and can book up quickly. If this is the case we will always communicate with you to keep you updated. If your date is filling up you can secure your booking with a deposit.
What will you need from me to secure my booking?
To secure your booking we will need a deposit of £2 per person (based on your provisional numbers).
Further information such as menu choice and final numbers is not needed to secure your booking. You can provide this to us closer to your event day giving you more time to consider all our options.
For further information about paying your deposit and our deposit terms and conditions please contact us.
Are children catered for?
Children are fully catered for, and generally made a fuss of where possible! They are served just before the adults. This tends to keep them sat down so their parents can enjoy their meal. The children’s menu can be found in our menu pack. Alternatively children can have a smaller portion of the adult’s menu.
We find that toddlers and babies are often happy eating small amounts from their parent’s plate or eating food provided by their parents. As such we make no allowance for them (and so do not charge). We do however like to lay a place for them so the tables look complete.
Some of my guests are Vegetarians, Coeliacs or require other Special Diets. Are you able to cater for them?
We are able to cater for any of your guests requiring a special diet. Generally, there is no extra surcharge for this.
There is a list of Vegetarian and Vegan dishes within our menu pack. We ask that one dish is chosen for all of your vegetarian guests.
We try to cater for Coeliacs without changing the menu. Gluten-free bread is provided for them, and their soups and sauces are thickened with gluten-free flour.
Other special diets are catered for on a case-by-case basis. We try not to alter the menu too much so they don’t feel left out!
Can we offer options to our guests?
You are more than welcome to offer choices to your guests for any (or all) courses you wish.
To ensure an efficient service for your meal we will need to know exact numbers for each choice in advance. We will also need a table plan showing where each guest is sitting and a name card for each guest clearly showing their menu choice.
A surcharge is applicable when providing your guests with choices. Please contact us for more information.
Can I provide my own canapes, cheese, etc.?
We are very proud of our 5* Food Hygiene rating and take every care possible with the storage, preparation, cooking and serving of our food. When food hasn’t been provided by ourselves we cannot guarantee that it has been produced or stored safely. Additionally, we cannot be certain of the allergens present in food we haven’t purchased and prepared.
Most of the venues we work with require us to take responsibility for the safety of all food on site. Therefore, unfortunately we are not able to serve food (excluding wedding cakes) which has not been provided by our team.
We're planning on having a huge wedding/event, what's the maximum number of people you can cater for?
Whether you’re looking for a formal sit-down meal or something more relaxed we are able to cater for events large or small. In fact, we’ve yet to find an event too large for us to cater.
If you’re having a lot of attendees just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help and advise you.
Do we need to choose our menu right away?
Not at all. We don’t require your final menu choice until around six weeks before your function.
When thinking about the menu you would like our menu pack is a good place to start. You no doubt have your own theme, ideas and preferences too. We can arrange a no-obligation appointment to discuss your ideas and provide advice.
We also offer Taster Days at many of the venues we work with. These allow you to try some of the dishes you are considering before making your final choice of menu.
Do you provide catering for evening buffets too?
We offer a wide variety of options for evening catering from nibbles and sandwich buffets to Hog Roasts and Barbecues. Our Evening Menus can be found in our menu pack.
Evening menus must be used in conjunction with a Wedding menu. They are inclusive of waiting staff for buffet table service and any necessary cutlery and crockery.
What do your staff wear?
Our service staff are dressed smartly in our Cresta uniform. This consists of black shoes, black trousers or skirt, black shirt, black Cresta apron and our burgundy Cresta ties.
Our chefs and kitchen team wear chefs’ blacks and hats. Even though you won’t see them much – they’ll be busy cooking your delicious meal – they still look smart and presentable.
Who dresses the tables on the day?
Our staff usually lay-up the tables and dress them in conjunction with the venue’s staff.
Whilst there is usually no charge for this if you have any fiddly parts of the table lay up please be sure to let both the venue and our team know in advance of your event.
Will you be able to cut and serve our cake?
We are more than happy to do this for you.
We generally find that most people would like their cake served with their evening food. However if you would like your cake served earlier in the day or as part of your wedding breakfast that would also be possible. A small charge may apply to this service. For more information about cake cutting or to discuss your requirements please contact our office
